Upcoming talk …

One of the great privileges of life after writing Journeys of Heartache and Grace: Conversations and Life Lessons from Young People with Serious Illnesses is being invited to give talks about the book to community, civic and faith-based organizations.  In giving these talks, I’ve met some of the most wonderful people, and hopefully I’ve shared some relevant and timely insights with them.

On Tuesday evening, February 1, I’ll be speaking at the Tarrytown United Methodist Church to the Stephen Ministry group.  Stephen Ministry is a one-to-one lay caring ministry that provides tremendous help to people in need.

How blessed I am to be able to continue to talk about the stories and learnings of the Journeys book.  Here’s to everyone who is interested.  If you know of groups needing a speaker, please let me know.

New beginnings, news hopes …

This being my first post of the 2011 New Year, I am reminded of the fragility of life given yesterday’s unbelievable Tuscon tragedy, especially given that part of my background has been as a legislative aide.  Let us all keep in our thoughts and prayers those affected by the tragedy.

Here’s to new beginnings and new hopes for a much more peaceful, just and sane world.

Happy New Year.  Melody
